The Santa Monica Bike Center is a great resource for anyone wanting to ditch his or her car and get around using pedal power, whether it’s for your commute or just for a few hours. They have bikes to rent, lockers, showers, — and now new-guided bike tours, just in time for National Bike Month.
Located just a block from the beach on Second Street and Colorado Avenue, the Santa Monica Bike Center is now offering six guided bike tours. They include an urban farming tour where you “bike to local, progressive urban homesteaders that have converted their lawns into edible landscapes flush with fresh fruit and vegetable gardens … .”
There’s also a street art tour, a sweet spots tour (think chocolate decadence), a Main Street food tour and more.
Tours vary in price from $45 to $89. Those that cost more include food tastings or lunch. All ages are welcomed.
As an avid cyclist, I urge you to check out one of these tours. They’re great for visitors as well as residents who are looking for something fun, active and outdoors.

See you in the bike lane!
