The jolly one and his little round belly will be on hand Thursday, November 20, at 6 p.m. to help light the official City of Santa Monica Holiday Tree on the world-famous and festive Third Street Promenade.
The event will feature falling snow, free candy canes for the kids and an awesome rendition of “Jingle Bell Rock” performed by the Santa Monica High School Marching Band.
Santa will then hop in a convertible 1969 Monterey and parade down the promenade with his dancing elves and the merry band to Santa Monica Place for their tree lighting party, which will be followed by live music and pictures with jolly Old St. Nick.
The tree lighting is the kickoff for the holiday season in Downtown Santa Monica, better known as Winterlit, a series of free, family-friendly activities taking place every Thursday night from November 20 through December 18.
Snow will fall, the tree will light, music will play and there will be karaoke one night, a screening of the holiday classic “Elf” on another, kids crafts, a special reading of “Twas The Night Before Christmas,” Menorah lightings, live music and more.
What better place to be for the holidays than Downtown Santa Monica? It’s fun, free and festive. Bring the kids, bring your friends, bring your co-workers. It’s time to celebrate the season!
