Downtown Santa Monica is the yoga capital of the world, with more studios per square mile than any place on Earth — at least it feels that way when walking around. We’ve got hot yoga, power yoga, Vinyasa, mommy yoga, even doggy yoga.
OK, I might be making that last one up, but my point is Downtown Santa Monica is L.A.’s fitness focal point. After all, Muscle Beach, located just south of the Santa Monica Pier, was the birthplace of the modern fitness movement. No Santa Monica, probably no Jane Fonda in spandex.
Santa Monica Centric recently invited registered dietitian nutritionist and certified personal trainer Whitney English Downtown to get her thoughts on the best places to not only sweat, but also refuel, in our health-conscious district.
On her blog, To Live and Diet in L.A. she focuses on the hottest one-hour group personal training workout at OrangeTheory Fitness on Second Street, and follows up with a refreshing treat post burn at Nekter Juice Bar. She calls Downtown Santa Monica “a major hub for healthy living.”
