Being Thankful This Thanksgiving

Miscellany

Food does take center stage at my family’s Thanksgiving feast, but we do put aside some time to go around the dinner table and get all mushy like those mashed potatoes and talk about what we are thankful for this year.

For me, it was a wild one, starting a new job and new career, finally buying a car instead of biking, and letting go of some damaging relationships and coming out stronger for it.

Through it all, I had the support of my friends and family and that is what I am thankful for this year. They have been by my side offering encouragement, advice and sometimes just a hug or a cold beer and an ear for me to vent. Without them, I would not be where I am today. So this blog is for them.

I went around the office asking folks what they’re thankful and here are some of the responses:

Laura:

I am thankful for the dog who makes me happy every day; my siblings who were so very wonderful when we moved my parents this year; that I discovered the wonderful Santa Monica pool this year; and that I have a dog park family to spend my evenings with rather than just throwing tennis balls and being bored.

Kathleen:

I am thankful to live and work at the beach, for my amazing family and for having a job I love to go to every single day.

Chris:

I am thankful for being able to wake up every morning, watch my children grow, and enjoy the thrill of exploring the new possibilities life has to offer each day.

Cheryl:

I’m ever so thankful for my health, for my supportive family, friends and coworkers and for working in one of the most beautiful cities in the world!

Collette:

I’m thankful for all around awesomeness – awesome God, crazy awesome family, awesome friends, and awesome job with awesome people!

Mackenzie:

I’m thankful for everything! My family, great friends, my job. Life is good.
